NHL Not Expecting Any Russian Players To Have Visa Issues

Aug 24, 2022 2:31 PM

The NHL doesn't anticipate any Russian players having issues with obtaining visas this season, deputy commissioner Bill Daly told ESPN on Wednesday.

"We're expecting them all to be good -- and in North America," Daly said while attending the league's European media tour in Paris. "That whole situation is difficult, but kind of out of our hands. So just like with the pandemic, and with many issues, we looked to the governing agencies to make those decisions. And we played by the rules."

Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras and Team Canada forward Sarah Nurse are the cover athletes for NHL 23, EA Sports announced Wednesday, noting that Nurse is the first women's hockey player to grace the cover of its NHL video game.

Carey Price is unlikely to play for the Montreal Canadiens this season, general manager Kent Hughes said on Thursday.

"This summer he went through the process of a shot to the knee seeing if that would help," Hughes said. "It did not, and at this point, we don't expect Carey to be available for the start of this season. Tyson Foerster Prepared To Make Push For Roster Spot

Aug 15, 2022 11:53 AM

Tyson Foerster's shoulder injury might have been the worst and best thing to happen to him last season.

The Flyers forward prospect was out more than four months recovering from surgery for a dislocated shoulder, but the time away allowed the 20-year-old to work on other areas of his game.

He said he now feels better prepared to push for an NHL spot this season.

"Everything happens for a reason," said Foerster, the No. 23 pick of the 2020 NHL Draft. "It [stunk] a lot. I wanted to be playing, I wanted to be with the guys every night and working out with them and doing all that sort of stuff. But I knew it's a bigger picture and I got to work, get my shoulders healthy now so I can be ready to go in the future."
